Just before 4 p.m. on August 20, 20-year-old Collin Guilford was recklessly driving a stolen car near Harry Byrd Highway and Yellow Schoolhouse Road, when he spun out of control and crashed into a median, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
After the crash, Guilford allegedly attempted to carjack three other nearby vehicles, authorities said.
Police reported Guilford assaulted one of the drivers of those cars and the victim was left with minor injuries.
Guilford fled the scene on foot, while attempting to carjack even more vehicles, before running into a wooded area, law enforcement said.
Though he resisted arrest, officers took Guilford into custody and took him to a local hospital, as they believed he was under the influence of an unknown substance, police said.
Upon release from the hospital, Guilford was charged with three counts of carjacking, one count of resisting arrest, one count of grand larceny, and other related offenses, officials said.
Guilford was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where he was held without bond, police reported.
